Coney Island, NY.

Os Gemeos.

Os Gemeos is a Graffiti (brothers) duo from Brazil. I had heard that they covered the wall on West Houston street before Shepard Fairey claimed the space, but didn't realize that the property owners had preserved their mural until now. Still not sure how I feel about this so-called "street art war" (thus destruction of the Shepard piece) but I am happy to see bits a pieces of this particular work.

Then, by fate, while visiting Coney Island for the first time (I know I know! FIRST TIME), we walked out of the subway to see yet another Os Gemeos mural. I absolutely adore their dreamlike sequences and painterly touch...

FIFA!!!

In honor of the Word Cup, I am posting this by Brazilian design team, Rizerio + Almirante, who coincidentally just won a Gold and Bronze at the Cannes Lions. I have come to understand that the Lions are much like the Oscars for the advertising world. Congrats!!!

Miniature life.

This table, named Alone in a Crowd, is too amazing. 511 figures representing all walks of life. By Rolf Sachs.

Wine and Design.

The Hotel Viura by Designhouses is set in the Spanish wine region of Rioja Alavesa. Even though the architecture of this hotel is ultra modern, it works in unison with the exterior landscape, taking advantage of the views with a sense of fun and casual elegance. Some one take me there...

Hanneli's Style.

I ran across Hanneli Mustaparta's Blog while searching (as usual) for Street Style websites. It's especially coincidental because I used to work with her when I was on the women's board at Ford. Hanneli is stunning, sweet, and has truly impeccable taste (She even makes Denim on Denim look good). I would agree with Blackbook when they named her "The New Satorialist." As you may or may not be able to tell, I have started Drafting! I am currently taking Basic Drafting 151 for Interior Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. I could not be more thrilled, but it also could not be more difficult and time consuming. It is like learning a new language and a new way of thinking. Projects and insight to come.
If you like tart homemade lemonade you must go to Roberta's for their Fresh Mint Lemonade. They also have a unique brunch menu boasting only locally grown (and their own garden grown) foods. Try the Parmesan Polenta with pork shoulder and poached egg.

Bridge.

The beautiful Brooklyn Bridge was completed in 1883, making it one of the oldest suspension bridges in the USA. The perfect time to walk across from Manhattan is at dusk...by the time you make it across to Brooklyn you have a most perfect view of the lit city.

Happy Summer.

Summer has hit Brooklyn and our loft.
The windows are open, the plants are growing, and the sun is shining. But we need a new rug...
